FAQ

Who is Young at Heart Services?

We are a caring team, led by Maria Pauka. We all share a passion for helping seniors and the elderly maintain their independence.

What do you do?

We provide our clients with what we call a ‘personal assistant’ service. Our clients tell us what kind of help they need and we tailor our services to match their individual needs.

I don't want to lose my independence. How can you help me?

With our service, you are in complete control. You keep your independence and we assist you where and when it is required. We can ensure you still get ‘out and about’ and there is no need to ask for, or wait for, favours from family and friends.

What services do you provide?

We provide a wide variety of services, according to your needs and wants. Each engagement can vary and is designed by you, the client. We can assist with shopping, cooking, light housekeeping, secretarial assistance, and companionship. You can look at Our Services for some ideas, but really, the list is endless. Do I need to sign a contract?

We have some initial paperwork and once this is completed you can use us as regularly as you wish. There is no lock-in contract or ongoing commitment on your part, other than the minimum two hours per visit or engagement. You are in control of how much or how little assistance you require.

How much notice should I give for assistance?

We are quite flexible and can offer assistance at very short notice.

How can I trust your company and your personal assistants?

Our personal assistants are very carefully screened. All their references are checked, they have a current police check and are covered by Workers Compensation and Public Liability Insurance. We regularly ask you for feedback to ensure our personal assistants are compatible with you and are meeting your needs.

What if I don’t like the assistant who comes to help me?

It is of utmost importance to us that you and your personal assistant are compatible, enjoy each other’s company and that you both are comfortable with one another. If you are not happy with your assistant, we will happily appoint a different assistant—you are in complete control. We are well known for being able to accommodate different cultural or religious backgrounds, so please ask.

What if my needs change and I want to increase or decrease help?

>We are completely flexible and can adjust our services to adapt to your changing needs. Sometimes you need more help, especially after a hospital stay. We can offer help for as many hours as you need. Once you can manage again, we can reduce the amount of help we provide, or stop it completely, until you need us again. That’s no problem at all.
