I’ve always had a respect and appreciation for the older people around me and a real interest in their often amazing life stories. I grew up in Europe with my family and grandparents, in a culture that valued older people.
After moving to Australia, even though I pursued a different career path, I always found time to help my elderly friends, neighbours and relatives with their everyday life. This always gave me great joy and pleasure and through helping those close to me I realised that there were others who would need and benefit from a service that would allow them to maintain their active lifestyles.
So Young at Heart was born! As the company grew steadily over the years, I took on additional personal assistants and expanded our range of services. I’ve gathered around me a team who share the same love, concern and passion for helping our clients maintain their independence as I have. We want our clients to enjoy their later years, feeling invigorated, satisfied, enriched and in control. I’m particularly proud of the way I’ve been able to match particular assistants with clients. I feel it’s a gift I have. It’s also been great to take some of the pressure off busy families who love and care for their parents but are increasingly stretched by the demands of career and children. With help from Young at Heart they get to enjoy time with their elderly loved ones and the guilt is gone.
Our personal assistants
Our personal assistants are caring, professional, mature and respectful. Many of our assistants have prior experience in nursing and/or a certificate in aged care, but of course at Young at Heart we look for more than this—we employ people who exhibit a real empathy and desire to make a difference in the lives of our clients, going the extra mile.
Our assistants are resourceful, proactive and flexible. They can work in conjunction with other service providers.
All our assistants have excellent references, a current Police Check and are covered by Workers Compensation and Public Liability Insurance.
